Where was Twister filmed?

Twister was filmed in various locations in Oklahoma and Iowa, including the town of Wakita, Oklahoma. Wakita was featured as the home town of Aunt Meg, and you may recall scenes of main street and the Wakita water tower. Although Aunt Meg’s house was destroyed for the movie, you can still drive past the lot (click for map location) and see the town’s iconic water tower.

Twister the Movie Museum Overview

Your main reason for visiting Wakita will be to visit the Twister the Movie Museum! This small, one-room museum is chock full of movie memorabilia and photos. Created by a fan, there’s a little bit of everything: fan artwork, trading cards, and cast photos. Highlights include the original Dorothy I, a Twister pinball machine, and the numerous production and behind the scenes photos. The museum is frequented by real life storm chasers so you will also see displays of t-shirts donated by them. Interpretive labels are minimal. It’s a what you see is what you get kind of museum. If you love a kitschy museum, it’s definitely worth a stop!
