If you were asked to create a cocktail called the Headless Horseman, what would it include? Dark and moody liqueurs perhaps? Ginger Ale and vodka aren’t really the direction I’d take it, but we are just going to go with it because that’s what the 1969 Old Mr. Boston DeLuxe Official Bartender’s Guide says.
Headless Horseman Cocktail
Ingredients
- 2 oz vodka
- 3 Dashes bitters
- Ginger Ale
- Slice of orange
Instructions
Add ice cubes to a Tom Collins glass. Add the vodka and bitters. Fill with ginger ale and stir. Decorate with a slice(s) of orange.
This is a light and refreshing one. Vodka and ginger ale are a comfortable match in many familiar cocktails. I typically love the addition of lime as in a Moscow Mule, but the and the bitters in the Headless Horseman Cocktail gives it the little punch it needs.
This cocktail feels more like summer than Halloween to me, but if your temps have yet to plummet, add this one to your spooky cocktail wish list. To make it feel a little more seasonal, add a pumpkin cocktail pick like I did.
