How to Style a Wrap Dress for Winter

January 15, 2022 By Untwisted Vintage Leave a Comment

I love a wrap dress. They are classic, comfortable, and super flexible when it comes to size fluxuations. But my favorite wrap dress needs a little restyling to make it suitable for chilly weather. Plunging necklines and Arctic wind chills really are not a good match! The good news is there are lots of options when you are in search of how to style a wrap dress for winter. Let’s explore a few.

The Wrap Dress

Let’s start with the dress. The wrap dress I love is a linen dress from Son de Flor (Affiliate link). It’s such a beautiful, classic dress and I wore it a lot over the summer. As you can see, however, it’s short-sleeved and leaves my neck quite exposed to the elements. That’s where the layers come in!

Cardigans

Adding a colorful cardigan to a wrap dress is an obvious choice. I love a knit that stands out in the crowd, so my picks are those with bright color or unique details like embroidery. Palava cardigans are some of my current favorites.

Blazers

Blazers are another smart way to transition a wrap dress to winter. Style them buttoned up or open. The choice is yours! This Son de Flor blazer (Affiliate Link) is also linen and pairs beautifully with the linen dress.

Layer, Layer, Layer

Why stop at one layer when you can add more? Add an oversized knit jacket or scarf, or add layers underneath.

Buy Less and Use More

Fashion sustainability begins with buying less and reusing the pieces we own more and more. Transitioning pieces from one season to another is a good place to start. When adding pieces to my wardrobe, I am trying to buy more classic pieces from small businesses that are committed to sustainability. I’m choosing pieces I know I will continue to wear for many years to come, and that I can style and restyle in many different ways.
