Need an easy Valentine’s Day table decoration? This retro DIY no-sew table runner is the perfect way to add color and whimsy to your Valentine’s Day table.
Supplies Needed
- Felt- I made the hearts from this multi-pack
- Fabric Glue- I used Aileen’s Tacky Glue
- Heart shaped template – I used 3″ and 5″ heart shaped cookie cutters that are similar to these
- Pom Pom Fringe -I used pink pom pom fringe that I purchased on Amazon.
- A pen for tracing
- Scissors
Step by Step
- Measure your table to obtain dimensions for the felt background and cut felt to size.
- Using a cookie cutter or other template, trace heart shapes on colored pieces of felt and cut them out.
- Lay out your heart shapes on felt background until you have enough to fill it to your liking.
- Use fabric glue to adhere the hearts to the background.
- Cut ball fringe to the length of your felt background. Pro tip: To keep the ends from unraveling, I tucked the ends over and sewed a couple of stitches to tack it down. You can also glue the ends.
- Glue the ball fringe to the edge of the felt.
- Enjoy!
Vintage Inspirations for Valentine’s Day Table Decorations
This easy Valentine’s Day table decoration was inspired by the Better Crocker’s Hostess Cookbook from 1967. Betty suggests stitching red felt hearts on a delicate pink runner and showing it off on a plain white tablecloth. I had so much fun creating my retro felted Christmas Coasters, that I thought making a runner out of felt would be fun and much easier than Betty’s sewing project.
